THE SPAULDING GROUP TO HELP AMERICAN CENTURY COMPLY WITH AIMR PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

Somerset, NJ – March 16, 2000. Kansas City-based American Century Investments has selected The Spaulding Group, Inc. (TSG) to help it become compliant with the Association for Investment Management and Research’s Performance Presentation Standards (AIMR-PPSSM).

“We were very impressed with The Spaulding Group’s depth of experience and extensive involvement with assisting firms in becoming compliant with the AIMR-PPS reporting standards” said Steve Levitt, American Century’s director of portfolio content and analysis. “We needed a partner who can bring us into compliance quickly, and TSG is qualified to do this.”

“We are obviously very pleased to have been chosen to do this task” said TSG’s president, David Spaulding. “The competition for this assignment was quite strong, but we were confident we had the skills and experience American Century wanted.”

AIMR’s 1997 standards book defines these presentation standards as “a set of guiding ethical principles which should be interpreted as the minimum standards for presenting investment performance to prospective clients. The standards have been designed to achieve the following four goals:

- achieve greater uniformity and comparability among performance presentations;

- improve the service offered to investment management clients;

- enhance the professionalism of the industry;

- bolster the notion of self-regulation.

“The Standards set expections and provide an industry yardstick for evaluating fairness and accuracy in investment performance presentation.”
