Somerset,
NJ April 22, 2004. The Spaulding Group (TSG) announced today
that they have formed a non-profit Blue Ribbon Committee which is
working on the development of a Certification Program for individuals
working in the area of investment performance measurement.
"We surveyed the industry six years ago and determined that there
was interest in a certification program, but delayed implementing
it for a variety of reasons" said Patrick Fowler, Senior Vice
President of TSG. "We completed another survey recently which
showed more than 75% support for a certification program."
"We've assembled an outstanding international group of professionals
to participate in this effort," said David Spaulding, President
of TSG. The committee is made up of members of the Performance Measurement
Forum, a membership group The Spaulding Group created more than five
years ago. Members include Carl Bacon (StatPro), Jennifer Cahill (Grantham,
Mayo, Van Otterloo), Sandra Hahn-Colbert (Neuberger Berman), Darren
Crowley (Pictet Asset Management), Bruce Feibel (Eagle Investment
Systems), Claude Giguère (FMC), Sabina Hastings (The Spaulding
Group), Paul Johnson (State Farm), Todd Juillerat (Banc One Investment
Advisors), Jean-Pierre Mittaz (Goldman Sachs Asset Management), Neil
Riddles (Hansberger Global Investors), Martin Schlieman (Ernst &

Schwartzman (J & W Seligman), John Simpson (Integrated Decision
Systems), Grant Strang (KPMG), Ian Thompson (AFA Systems), Craig Wietz
(First Rate Investment Systems), and Cecilia Wong (BaseTwo Investment
Systems).
The committee has been meeting since January. The certification will
be under the auspices of the Foundation of Investment Performance
Professionals, a non-profit corporation recently created by The Spaulding
Group. The examination is expected to last three hours and will be
administered for the first time in November 2005.
