THE
SPAULDING GROUP TO CONDUCT PERFORMANCE PRESENTATION STANDARDS SURVEY
Somerset,
NJ – March 7, 2000. The Spaulding Group, Inc. (TSG) is conducting its
fifth performance measurement survey, this time focusing on both
the AIMR Performance Presentation Standards (AIMR-PPSM) and
the Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPSSM).
TSG
conducted its first performance survey in 1993, which focused on the
AIMR standards. This survey was repeated and expanded in 1995 and 1997.
Last year, the firm surveyed the industry on the Performance Measurement
Professional.
The
AIMR-PPS became effective in January 1993; GIPS went into effect on
January 1 of this year. TSG wants to determine the attitudes of money
managers, plan sponsors, and investment consultants about these standards.
This survey will serve as the baseline for future comparisons.
TSG
has signed up two cosponsors for this survey effort, SunGard
and Statpro, two software firms
that offer performance measurement systems. Other firms are invited
to participate as cosponsors.
Survey
participants will receive complimentary copies of the results. It is
TSG’s policy to insure confidentiality of the participants, so details
that would jeopardize this confidentiality will not be shared with cosponsors
or other parties.
Surveys
will be mailed out later this month. Results will be published in late
May or early June.
In
addition to surveying the industry on performance measurement issues,
TSG has also conducted surveys on portfolio accounting and trading systems.
They’ve also conducted proprietary surveys for clients.
TSG
is a management consulting, research, publishing and training firm that
serves the money management industry in the areas of computer technology,
operations, performance measurement and reporting, and marketing. TSG
also publishes The Journal of Performance Measurement
and hosts the Performance Measurement Forum.
